Predicted Grades
It is the grade of qualification an applicant’s school or college believes a student is likely to achieve in their final examinations, based on their prior performance at school level examinations at high school.
2.
Letter of Recommendation/Reference
One reference should be provided by someone who knows you academically and can talk about your work ethic, interaction with other students and your suitability for higher education or a future career.
3.
personal statement
An essay detailing your motivations for wishing to study medicine at a university level
4.
work experience
Time spent working in a healthcare setting or otherwise, displaying your commitment and skills possessed to study medicine
5.
entrance exams
UCAT/BMAT: Since students come from all backgrounds and may have studied different curricula, these entrance exams attempt to level the playing field
6.
English
proficiency tests
IELTS/TOEFL: Most international students have to take these tests to prove they are sufficiently proficient in English to be able to communicate and understand academic writing at university
7.
interviews
Interviews are a way to understand whether a student would fit in well at a university and to stand out from an extremely academically proficient cohort of students
